If you did not pay your tax bill by the due date – April 15, 2024, there are options available for taxpayers
If you filed for an extension you are still responsible for paying any tax due by the April 15th deadline.
Here are some options:
Apply for a payment plan. These can be short term or long term payment plans depending on the amount of tax owed.
Offer in compromise (OIC). Taxpayers may be able to settle their tax debt for less than the full amount owed. An OIC is based on financial hardship and the ability to pay. Not all taxpayers will qualify for this option as it often requires unique circumstances for the IRS to accept the OIC.
Interest and penalties will continue to accrue on your unpaid tax debt. It is important to understand your options and take action as soon as possible.
