New Scam Alert

Scammers are now emailing fake IRS tax bills with a CP2000 attachment. The bill claims to be related to the Affordable Care Act. The email requests that taxpayers mail a check made out to "I.R.S." to the "Austin Processing Center" at a post office box address. There is also a payment link in the email itself.

IRS impersonation scams take many forms: threatening phone calls, phishing emails and demanding letters.

Taxpayers receiving phishing emails should forward the email to phishing@irs.gov
