NEW IRS SCAM - Don't Be Fooled

NEW IRS SCAM - Don't Be Fooled

Posted By: Jennifer O'Neill // Jun 19, 2017

The IRS recently issued a warning on a new tax scam involving the Electronic Federal Tax Payment System (EFTPS). The scammers are calling taxpayers and demanding an immediate tax payment using a prepaid debit card. They are informing the taxpayer that two certified IRS letters were returned to the IRS as undeliverable. The scammers then threaten arrest if payment is not made through a prepaid debit card that is linked to the EFTPS system. They also tell the taxpayer not to contact their preparer, attorney or local IRS office until the tax payment is made.
